Jean Chatzky, the Financial Editor of Today offers tips on how to manage your college loan debt and keep your life on track in her article, "Saddled with student loans? Here's what to do," posted June 18, 2006. She writes that there are four things you can do:
- Consolidate your loans to decrease your interest rates
- Evaluate your earning potential and develop a sensible budget to support it
- Prioritize your debt; credit card interest rates are much higher, so pay them off first
- Don't put your life on hold due to debt, there will always be things you need to pay/save for
